MOVIE REVIEW: THE SORCERERS APPRENTICE (PG)

SLIDERS REVIEW:
By watching the trailer of this film you will know to expect an adventure film with loads of special effects. I wasn’t too excited about watching this film but after watching it I can say I enjoyed myself. The story was easy to follow and pulled me in from the start. I loved all the types of effects packed into this film. It’s very intriguing to see animal statues come alive and be used in battle. The action scenes look fresh and the shots are clean cut and fun for everyone watching.

Balthazar Blake (Nicholas Cage) & Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel) are the two leading roles in this film. Watching these two on screen together gives off a father and son type relationship even though they are not related in this movie.  They both played their roles very well, I’m very happy to say they are great actors. Nicholas Cage plays this focused sorcerer on a mission to stop evil whilst Jay Baruchel played his usual role of a nerdy guy with this usual look of awkwardness on his face.

This is one family movie everyone will have a good time watching. It has funny parts that literally makes you LOL which is good because it balances out the darkness of the magic flying around on screen and lighten us the mood. Nobody really wants a film that takes itself too seriously.

MY STAR RATINGS OUT OF 5:  4++++

ONE FAVOURITE MOMENT IN THE FILM:

I liked the car chase scene where they magically change their car into faster ones. This action scene is entertaining. One car ends up inside a glass as part of a magic trick and then somehow manages to gets out by flying though another smashed one.

(if you loved another moment in the film, please feel free to tell me in the comments)

SYNOPSIS:

Master sorcerer Balthazar Blake recruits a seemingly everyday guy in his mission to defend New York City from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath.
