MOVIE REVIEW: 50/50 (15)

"BRILLIANTLY BALANCED"
++++
50/50 is a comedy drama film directed by Jonathan Levine (same guy that brought us The Wackness, 2008). Inspired by a true story, a comedy centered on a 27 year old guy who leanrs of his cancer diagnosis, and his subsequent struggle to beat the disease. Its Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard, Anjelica Huston, Serge Houde, Andrew Airlie, Matt Frewer, Phillip Baker Hall, Donna Yamamoto, Sugar Lyn Beard, Yee Jee Tso, Sarah Myth, Peter Kelamis & Jessica Parker Kennedy.

#Fact: James McAvoy was cast as Adam, but had to drop out due to personal conflicts. Joseph Gordon-Levitt replaced him after being called by Seth Rogen less than a week before shooting was scheduled to start. He accepted the role two days before.
THE REVIEW:
Suprisingly, I enjoyed watching this film (well done Mr. Levine). I didn't think i would find it funny, first thought was how can you have a comedy about someone having cancer? but its much more than that. 50/50 has got a calm yet funny aura about it, i think more that's to do with the leading man Adam Lerner (Levitt). He finds out he's got cancer at his young age and just tries his best to takes it on his stride.

Adam's friend Kyle (Rogen) brings great comedy that made me "LOL" a few times (hilarious one liners). Even Adam had his funny moments. I liked the mix of comedy and still being able to put across the seriousness of the disease. The weed smoking brought a different side to life i don't see in films like this. Even though we find out quite early about his diagnosis, I gradually felt more sorry for him as the film moves on. I'm glad it does not get all soppy on me too quickly.

The storyline balances out well, the pace is just perfect and when the touching scenes come in they really hits home. Whoever doesn't want to see this film because its about cancer is missing out on some a good story and even greater acting. All the characters make this film work superbly, all have good qualities that sticks to mind.

This film does appeals to the older generation but the younger crowd (18+) will find this good to watch if they can tear themselves away from the bigger budgets blockbusters.
OVERALL: Very Watchable.

ONE FAVOURITE MOMENT IN THE FILM:
The scene where Kyle comes back from his date and he lets Adam know who he saw. #ExhibitWh*re

MOVIE REVIEW - THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART 1 (12A)

"THE WEAKEST TWILIGHT YET"
++
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 is a romantic adventure drama fantasy film directed by Bill Condon (same guy that brought us Dreamgirls, 2006.) The Quileute and the Volturi close in on expecting parents Edward and Bella, whos unborn child poses different threats to the wolf and vampire coven.Its starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, Gil Birmingham, Billy Burke, Sarah Clarke, Ty Olsson & Ashley Greene.

#Fact: Part 2 wont be released untill November 2012

THE REVIEW:
We have all been waiting for this film to surface, well i know most girls/women have been raring to see the next piece of Twilight footage. Months of speculations has come to a close and the finished product is here. The first of the two part of the final installment.

 I caught a late showing of this film and stayed to watch the whole 177 minutes of it. This is one of them stretched out (to the max) films that emphasized boring scenes for no reason. A snail paced storyline which this turned out to be needs to have a lot of depth and also develop characters properly, sadly this film does not do much of that.

Theres the marriage then the honeymoon then we finally get some action. There is lots of emotions, lots of love on display that I felt it was going off track. There is only so much kissing that can be done on screen to show two characters are together. Thats the one problem with these Twilight flims, its too exclusively focused on Edward (Pattinson) & Bella (Stewart) theres not enough exploration of others.

The fans of Twilight wont find as much fault in this especially the young teenagers.The older generation will see what a cheese fest it is. Theres only little parts that are interesting and engaging. The only thing the director (Condon) manage to get right is the Cinematography. Some of the scenery looked beautiful (especially the wedding), and the most of the effects were also good.

Overall, this is the weakest Twilight yet. The story is not engaging and is badly structured. Too much time spend on the wedding and some of the acting was below par. Only the last 30 minutes of the film is worth watching. With the amount of Vampires & Werewolf's Twilight is known for, this film comes with a NO bite.

With how this Part 1 ended, it leaves the question... Why is there even a Part 2?.

MOVIE REVIEW: IMMORTALS (2D) (3D) (15)

"BASIC STORYLINE,
GOOD ACTION SCENES"
+++~
Immortals is a fantasy drama action film directed by Tarsem Singh (same guy that brought us The Fall, 2006). Theseus is a motal man chosen by Zeus to lead the fight against the ruthless King Hyperion, who is on a rampage across Greece to obtain a weapon that can destroy humanity. Its Starring Henry Cavill, Stephen Dorff, Luke Evans, Isabel Lucas, Kellan Lutz, Friedo Pinto, Mickey Rourke, John Hurt, Peter Stebbings, Joseph Morgan, Corey Seiver & Steve Byers.

THE REVIEW:
From the trailer this film looked like 300 Pt.2. Packed with action, greek gods,war and deaths. This is one of them must see films i wanted to watch just to see if the director could outdo 300.

After watching this film i can say its a good enough movie, although its like 300 its not better than it. I have to say the action scenes are well done, good graphics on show. Its your typical action war scenes. Swords swinging warriors all raring to go without a care of dieing. The entertainment value is there, the story is just very average. The blandness might be the reason some poeple will not like it. Some scenes are emphazized for no purpose and when Gods are fighting i want to feel their presence and be filled with awesomeness. The set, costumes and production is eyecatching, some people will say they look silly but i think they stands out. The frontman & hero Theseus (Cavill) does an amazing job, he just didnt have a brilliant story to back him. His presence was felt from the first time we see him on screen. He lead effortlessly.
 This is far from a chick flick as it incorporates classical greek myths and trust me when i say Immortals is pumped with tostotorone throughout. Its good with the consistancy it keeps like the hunt & discovery of the Eprerius bow, but havent said that the hype surrounding the bow died as soon as it was recovered. I saw it in 3D and once again im wishing i didnt because it did not make much difference (suckered out of £1 for the glasses again -_-).
With some questionable fighting styles like Kung Fu displayed, the director had a hit & miss with what to choose for this film. The cast overall pull off great performances all round.  It looks like a serious film and in some sense it is. I think people will have different takes on it.
OVERALL: Worth A Watch.
