MOVIE REVIEW: BRIDESMAIDS (15)

"HILARIOUS DOSE OF COMEDY"
+++~
Bridesmaids is a Comedy Drama Directed by Paul Fieg (same guy that directed TV shows like Mad Men) This film centres Anne who is picked by her bestfriend as maid of honour, being broke she has to bluff her way through the expensive and bizarre rituals with an extraordinary group of bridesmaids. Its Starring Kristen Wiig, Rose Byrne, Mellisa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, Ellie Camper, Jon Hamm, Chris O Dowd, Jessica St Clair, Terry Crews, Tom Yi, Elaine Kao, Michael Hitchcock, Kali Hawk, Joe Nunez, Rebel Wilson, Matt Lucas, Jill Clayburgh, Wendi McLendon-Covey & Ellie Kemper.
THE REVIEW:
It’s obviously based around a wedding but why is this film called ‘Bridesmaids’? It mainly focuses on one woman’s life and her tribulations, everyone else just sort of fits around her (even the bride). Its a shame because I think they missed out on  a Goldmine idea of turning this into Hangover sort of movie and with Hangover 2 just released this would have been a perfect time for a female version (would have made the film even better). They had different but good characters that they could have brought into the movie more because they were naturally funny. (There is no i in team)

Movie starts off okay (predictable) then it grabs your attention with the characters funniness and then starts to form into something memorable but then completely changes direction. It flips into this touching story of life, love and friendship (Why? ill never know). Anyway enough with my rant because Ladies (& most gents) will love this because it’s has good surprises & its touching & its topped off with lots of laughs. This is proof that women can make a comedy film without the stereotype of making them look bad. #GirlPower?

I like giving out #StarOfTheShow Award because Megan (McCarthy) was the funniest woman on show, her antics were very entertaining to watch. She was like the female version of  Zach Galifianakis (Alan in Hangover) Just imagine them two in a film together. Front woman Annie (Wiig) is a very good actress and she held her part brilliantly. As cute as Lillian (Rudolph) may look her character seemed weird because she didn't look like the usual candidate to be getting married in this type of film, she looked like one of the bridesmaids. Helen (Bryne) looked like the sort of person who should have been the bride. As a whole the cast was very good.

OVERALL: Funny But Goldmine Idea Totally Missed.
 STAR RATINGS OUT OF 5:  3.5
