THE REVIEW:
Summer 2011 has had its share of some of the best superhero movies. Now next up we have The Human Torch (out of the fantastic 4) as another superhero Captain America. Marvel has to amaze in this film because i saw the trailer and i looked at it as half empty rather than half full. I mean after all the hype is said and done he's just a super strong/fast man with a shield. I'm thinking its not going to be anything spectacular apart from the 3D effects, it will just be cliche story that has a start middle & end. (Lets hope im wrong)

After watching Captain America I was not surprised on how limited the movie was, there's not enough in this film to make it a classic. The action scenes are just good, they get better towards the end. The 3D did look as good as expected so thumbs up for that. I just don't think you can have a superhero movie set in the 1940's and come out with a summer blockbuster smash. Yes the sets and costumes look brilliant on screen and everyone looks the part but i'm sorry to say i wanted more. This movie is just too simple and routine for anything explosive to come out of it.

30 minutes into the film and i was getting bored because it is not that engaging, the story is just stays on one level. Its got the love interest, the guns, the bad guy <-- all we have seen formula's multiple times. At one point we see our hero in a compilation of cut scenes of him in battle, it felt like flicking through a action novel really fast. The really big stunts looked good that was about all i had to look forward to (that's as fun as it get i'm afraid). I cant blame him all he has is a shield and strength (does he really even count as a superhero). This is not one of them films you want to see twice, once is enough. I did like the ending.

There was nothing wrong with the main character Mr America, (Chris Evans) he was a brilliant front-man. The storyline just was not enough to carry the weight of such a cool, shield throwing character. Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan all pull off good applause worthy performances.
STAY FOR THE SCENES AT THE CREDITS.

  1. I felt it found itself eventually, but I agree not very original. For the first 45 minutes were biting on spider-man harder than a radioactive spider.
