MOVIE REVIEW: THE SOCIAL NETWORK (12A)

SLIDER’S REVIEW:

Are you on Facebook?
Do you want to know who and how it was created?
If your answer is YES for both of them questions then watch this movie.

The Social Network is an American drama film about how one genius idea that made Mark Zuckerberg (founder of Facebook) one of the youngest billionaires in history. The story centres Jessie Eissenberg who plays Mark on how the Facebook was developed and how’s idea it was in the first place. Throughout the film the story of how it all came together is told piece by piece because Mark is being sued by his friends as they claim Facebook was their idea. Where there’s millions of dollars in questions, everyone’s staking a claim.

This film is another one of those “does exactly what it says on the tin”. I knew what the film was about so the story telling and acting had to be top notch or the movie would collapse. I mean if I wanted to know about the Facebook founders I could have just easily bought the book from Ben Mezrich called The Accidental Billionaire.

I am 100% happy to say that this film pulls out more stops than a London Bus. The story is so fresh that it grabbed me from the first scene through to the end. Director David Fincher has done another outstanding job, his signature moves are written all over the way this film is shot. The camera works, lighting and emotional build up between Zach and Eduardo add to coolness of this film. I knew to expect great visuals from this man, he was the one behind the 1995 Seven & the 1999 classic Fight Club. I won’t be surprised if this film’s cast & crew collect a few awards.

I don’t see Jesse Eisenberg on the big screen a lot of times which is a shame because his acting abilities are excellent. His role in this film was chosen perfectly and it suited him. He’s one of the main reasons this movie came out the way it did. Andrew Garfield who plays his friend also does a superb job as Eduardo Saverin. I wasn’t sure on how good Justin Timberlake acting skills was but in his role as Sean Parker he was a very good actor. He is probably the first person from the music business that I have watched in a film and have forgotten that he’s an artist and only saw him as the person he portrayed on screen.

#Fact: Andrew Garfield has been chosen to play the new peter parker in the new Spider-Man film out 2012
MY STAR RATINGS OUT OF 5: 4

ONE FAVOURITE MOMENT IN THE FILM:

Eduardo and Sean’s last heated conversation when Eduardo gets his ownership of Facebook cut down to literally nothing.
