MOVIE REVIEW: KNIGHT & DAY (12A)

SLIDERS REVIEW:

Can somebody explain to me how Tom Cruise does it? he has managed to hold together this pointless film. He might not be everyone’s favourite actor but he can deliver when needed. The storyline of this movie is boring and a does go on a little bit too long and has no depth. This is a film I won’t remember in a week. Tom Cruise plays Roy Miller a rogue spy & Cameron Diaz plays June Havens a car restorer. They are the lead roles in this James Mangold directed film. The pair are back together on screen again since the 2001 Vanilla Sky film.

The pair make a OK couple on screen as they work off each other’s energy. I liked Tom Cruise’s character because he plays this very cool guy who is one step ahead of his enemies, knows how to work guns, cars and helicopters. He was just the perfect action hero with a funny side to him. I guess he really was “that guy”.  Without these famous faces I don’t think this film would sell at all.

The transitions effect that this film has works really well. One minute the character June Haven is one place the next she been drugged and ends up somewhere else. The way it’s done did sort of capture my attention span a little. It’s the feeling of pressing fast forward on a remote control. This made it slightly interesting to see the places she would end up in.

Knight & Day is a good watch but don’t expect nothing spectacular from this Action Comedy film. The gun fight and car chases are exciting but trust me when I say it’s nothing you have not seen before. My advice is if you’re a man go & watch the A Team but if you’re a woman and you love Tom Cruise (and I know alot of you do) then go and watch this film.

MY STAR RATINGS OUT OF 5:  2.5++~

ONE FAVOURITE MOMENT IN THE FILM:

There’s a scene where June (Cameron Diaz) has just come out of the aeroplane bathroom and is told by Roy (Tom Cruise) what had happened whilst she was in the loo. Roy Says: “we’ve erm lost the pilots” June Replies “where did they go?” Roy then says “i think they are dead”. He then goes on to explain how he kills them, not believing him she starts to laugh thinking he’s joking he starts to laugh with her  until the plane starts to lose altitude and she realises he’s telling the truth. she then realises the lifeless bodies all over the floor.

(if you loved another moment in the film, please feel free to tell me in the comments)

SYNOPSIS:

June Havens is a normal woman who finds her everyday life tangled with that of a secret agent who has realized he isn't supposed to survive his latest mission.
