THE REVIEW:

This Mark Reeves direction throws you into a world where apes rule as mankind is falling. Caesar, an ape is the king of his castle and his fellow ape disciples followed his every word, until they made contact with humans after a world disaster. We had a developing monkey in the previous movie, this is him in his prime. He understands the world and what it means to have friends, a family and a home. He is one of the most iconic leaders ive seen in a film, his energy and aura bring such presence to his scenes. Andi Serkis deserves an of award for his performance as Caesar.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is the sequel to the 2011 movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes. This is on a much bigger scale. A production of focused storytelling and the most realistic motion capture effects i've seen. From start to finish, its so compelling to watch. The tone throughout the movie is to preserve life and keep peace. Its made clear as the movie progressed that the humans and apes are prepared to go any lengths to protect their own. Another great example of fearing what you don't know. 

Awesome action scenes (Apes riding Horses with guns) and great acting are just a few things to awe at. The ape characters outshine the humans just as you would expect, they just compliment the story rather than to fit around it. The relationship between the two show more similarity if you take away looks. The message is that there is good and bad in every society. The arrogance of humans is transmitted in to the personalities of these apes since they are just as smart. 

An outstanding piece of film-making.

THE REVIEW:

X-Men: Days of Future Past is a breath of fresh action & adventure air that sets a new standards for superhero flicks. This motion picture comes as a sequel to both X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) &X-Men: First Class (2011). 
Director Brian Singer has managed to throw in all the characteristics of why we loved the superheros in the first place. Action scenes blossoming right from the start. Storyline is well thought-out, dialogue with a purpose and a great mix of twists. If that's not enough, they even merge bits of the previous movies to complete this new one. We are introduced to younger versions of the X:Men, giving screen time to characters in two different times of their lives. With over 2 hours playing time there's long list of mutants (new ones too) showing off their powers with brilliant special effects backing and great cinematography. 
Every character gets enough screen time to dazzle us in their elements. There's not much more one can ask for, even the 3D is amazing work. This is a brilliant achievement and can easily go toe to toe with The Avengers for the best superhero movie out so far.

A movie where the front men connection is on the same level is a directors dream and always a pleasure to watch. The actors & actresses are fantastic from start to finish. Fassbender (Magneto) & McAvoy (Professor X) deliver top performances, they are so believable and their chemistry is plain to see on screen. Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) is the show stealer. She's a woman on a mission destroying everything in her path. Not only is she an outstanding actress that owned every scene she was in, she's also a beautiful woman even when dipped head to toe in blue. Hugh Jackman is the poster boy, everything has to happen around him. He plays a great Wolverine/Logan and fits well in the mix. Other actors made good performances that solidifies the movie. Perfect cast.

THE REVIEW:

Taken's front-man Liam Neeson is out to save the day once again. But this time we are taken to the skies in a plane filled with innocent passengers and some nutjob in this atmospheric thriller. When Mr Neeson has an action film out you just have to check it out. He has all the attributes of a good cop actor.

Bill (Neeson) is a Federal Air Marshall who is assigned to accompany international flights. On this flight from New York to London there is an apparent high-jacking. Bill is framed and has to catch the real perpetrator before landing. From the trailer, the story seems straightforward but that's far from the finished product. Its an edge of the seat type movie with twists nobody can see coming.                                                                                                      I love a 'Whodunnit' type movie because it keeps the mind active, guessing who the culprit could be as the movie progressed. The script is set up to advance with every new discovery, there's more to learn about each character as they are introduced. The time is ticking, nerves are at an all time high, fingers are been pointed as well as guns and this is all happening 30k feet in the air. Director Juame Collet-Serra builds up throughout for an explosive finale. The effects of the plane look realistic.

No movie is perfect, neither is this one. There are one or two plot holes if watching really closely. The pace of the movie is moving Non-Stop, you might not notice. But if you do notice then you wont believe the ending and the reactions of the plane passengers as events unfold. I also noticed there wasn't enough fight scenes. If you're going to play the tough guy hero then beat a few more people up.

Liam Neeson does do a brilliant job in keeping this movie in focus and adding to the suspense. The stereotype fits him perfectly, he has the dramatic skills that work well in his favour. He keeps the movie interesting and worked well with his cast.

This is no Taken but its half way there.

Ben Barber is a security guard who wants to be a cop. He joins his cop brother in-law James on a 24 hour patrol of Atlanta. Ben sets out to impress James to prove himself worthy of marrying Angela, James' sister.

THE REVIEW:

 This movie does its job. Its funny, energetic and comes with not a perfect storyline but an enjoyable one. I didn't mind sitting in my seat, catching the jokes and laughing out loud with the rest of the cinema on release day.                                                                                Comedian turned actor Kevin Hart plays Ben, a peculiar man. He headlines with Ice Cube, he plays James, a crazy but tough cop in this buddy comedy movie. Ben takes a ride along to impress James but gets wrapped up in a case James is currently obsessed about.                                                                                                          The storyline is as expected. A cop teaming up with someone he does not like, the pair have to get along in the midst of many arguments. The cliches do not run too deep, the director takes the conscious decision to use a varied amount. The ones chosen fit with the tempo and are genuinely funny. 

The scrip picks up flaws when scenes are made just to fill up time. The further i went into the movie, the more predictable it got. Some twists didn't even make sense but thankfully the jokes did. The overall good outweigh the transparent script because the dialogue kept the jokes coming each scene. I wanted more character development between the two front man. There's just not enough background information to go on.

Films genres like this come at least once a month. Its who's the front man that's going to make you want to watch it. Kevin Hart is a comedian, put him in front of a camera in a comedy movie and that's exactly what your going to get. His performance is where the money is, if the movie was going to fall flat on its face then he was there to save it. He seems to be enjoying his time in the spotlight doing what he does best. He showed great chemistry with Ice Cube. Fans will not be disappointing with the end product. This is what i call capitalizing in your prime. From his hit comedy stand up DVD "Let Me Explain" to this, is a good look.

Kevin Harts enthusiasm and his Ice Cube partnership is definitely worth checking out.

THE REVIEW:

I had the chance to watch this biographic movie about Mandela and his pursuit of freedom for his people which took him half his lifetime to achieve. We have all read and learned about the life of Mandela, how It took thousands of black killings in South Africa and him spending 27 years in prison for change to finally come. 

Director Justin Chadwick brings his unforgettable story to life. Movie has its powerful moments, A good effort in trying to educate and entertain at the same time. With over 2 hours of screen time, the story-line is half way short of being perfect. But for what it lacks in plot it's made up for in dialogue. The younger generation might get bored but the older ones will understand every event and what it meant at the time. 

The writers have concentrated more on whats being said rather than whats actually happening. I was expecting more scenes of some memorable movement rallies, the representation of Mandela's time of presidency and why he decided to step down from power after a short reign. There's little to show on that front. The tone and pace even drops half way through, and it becomes a dragged out race to his triumph. The whole story does not hit all the point i expected, his redemption isn't shown in all its glory.

Idris Elba plays Nelson Mandela and i have to say he deserves a major award for his portrayal. He efforts carry this movie from start to finish even with this put on accent.  His Wife Winnie played by Naomie Harris also does a brilliant job, her ideologies and mental strength gave the story a little edge. The cast as a whole gave brilliant performances. The acting is more of a win than anything else.


This is must watch for an insight into History. (you owe it to yourself) 
Rest in Peace Mr Nelson Mandela.
