THE REVIEW:
Sacha Baron Cohen is a back with a new film after his not so funny Bruno left a weird taste in everybody's mouth. But with new direction comes a new script and that brings a bunch of new gags. This film is probably going to be Mr Cohen's funniest film to date (and probably 2012 so far). From the word go this dictator had me (and the whole cinema) laughing out loud. He plays this foul mouthed leader who rules the oil rich republic of Wadiya. His views has him making sure his country does not become a democratic one.
As usual you can expect obscene, disgusting and crude scenes, its what Mr cohen is known for and that what we get here. I was expecting this to be a flop but nope it just establishes him a great film maker and comedian. Its a breeze of fresh air to see him make a comedy that's not pranking people (usually the public) and then showing us the footage. This is actually a cool script accompanied with a great set of actors & actresses that entertain well. We go through a series of pranks as the film progresses but I do think the storyline could have been a lil tighter. This is one of them movies that's able to put anyone in a good mood because all of the care free humour it offers. It takes the piss out of the world and lets you know about some racial stereotypes people go through on a daily basis. The comedy shines because its very well place and does not seem forced. Even some of the awkward scenes werent so awkward (if that makes sense)
The dictator has one or two scenes that's very gross (do try and re-frame from puking in the popcorn). But havent said that, a well done to Sacha Baron Cohen for writing, producing and acting in this film because he shines with the cast. We can all only hope to see him in more roles like this one.
OVERALL: VERY FUNNY.
