MOVIE REVIEW - CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER (12A) (2D) (3D)

"NOTHING YOU HAVEN'T SEEN BEFORE"
++~
Captain America: The First Avenger is an Action, Adventure Sci Fi film from Marvel Comics. It was Directed by Joe Johnston (same guy that brought us Jurassic Park 3 & Honey I Shrunk The Kids) This film centers Steve Rogers, a man who volunteers for a top secret research project to turn him into Captain America. A Superhero dedicated to defending America & their war efforts.
Its Starring Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving, Dominic Cooper, Richard Armitage, Stanley Tucci, Samuel L. Jackson, Toby Jones, Neal McDonough, Derek Luke, Kenneth Choi, JJ Field & Bruno Ricci.

#Fact: Despite being "The First Avenger", it is the last solo Avenger film to be released before the team-up film,The Avengers.

THE REVIEW:
Summer 2011 has had its share of some of the best superhero movies. Now next up we have The Human Torch (out of the fantastic 4) as another superhero Captain America. Marvel has to amaze in this film because i saw the trailer and i looked at it as half empty rather than half full. I mean after all the hype is said and done he's just a super strong/fast man with a shield. I'm thinking its not going to be anything spectacular apart from the 3D effects, it will just be cliche story that has a start middle & end. (Lets hope im wrong)

After watching Captain America I was not surprised on how limited the movie was, there's not enough in this film to make it a classic. The action scenes are just good, they get better towards the end. The 3D did look as good as expected so thumbs up for that. I just don't think you can have a superhero movie set in the 1940's and come out with a summer blockbuster smash. Yes the sets and costumes look brilliant on screen and everyone looks the part but i'm sorry to say i wanted more.This movie is just too simple and routine for anything explosive to come out of it.

30 minutes into the film and i was getting bored because it is not that engaging, the story is just stays on one level. Its got the love interest, the guns, the bad guy <-- all we have seen formula's multiple times. At one point we see our hero in a compilation of cut scenes of him in battle, it felt like flicking through a action novel really fast. The really big stunts looked good that was about all i had to look forward to (that's as fun as it get i'm afraid). I cant blame him all he has is a shield and strength (does he really even count as a superhero). This is not one of them films you want to see twice, once is enough. I did like the ending.

There was nothing wrong with the main character Mr America, (Chris Evans) he was a brilliant front-man. The storyline just was not enough to carry the weight of such a cool, shield throwing character. Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan all pull off good applause worthy performances.
STAY FOR THE SCENES AT THE CREDITS.

MOVIE REVIEW: CARS 2 (2D) (3D)

"ODD STORYLINE AIMED AT KIDS"
++
Cars 2 is an Action Adventure Animated Comedy Produced By Pixar & Directed by John Lasseter (same guy that helped bring us Toy Story 3). Star race car Lightning McQueen and his pal Mater head overseas to complete in a World Grand Prix race. On the way they get caught up on their own intriguing adventure: International espionage.
Its Starring (Voices of) Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy, Michael Caine, Emily Mortimer, Eddie Izzard, John Issaacs, Thomas Kretcschmann, Joe Mantegna, Peter Jacobson, Lewis Hamilton & Bonnie Hunt.

THE REVIEW:
From the success of Cars had to come Cars 2. (i was thinking that)--> Pixar have come to dazzle us once again with their front car Lightning McQueen and the rest of the cool cars, each with their own aura. From the trailer i got a sense of a majorly fun action adventure that kids will love and humor the adults will also enjoy. #SoFarSoGood.

After watching this film i must say i was only impressed by the animation because it is very well done, the 3D was brilliant to watch, the attention to detail is food for anyone's eyes.
Some ADULT (not kids) are the going to like the storyline, its a Mix of Spies, Hit Men, Car Races, Strong Friendships & World Saving all rolled into one film. There's alot the cars go through and its got some comedy blended in. I found it engaging only because it was odd. (if that makes sense)
We have to remind ourselves that this is an animation movie aimed at kids so why is the storyline something taken out of a Spy movie?. Its all good parents going to the cinema with their kids to have a good time as a family but it will be a awkard moment when the adults understood more about the film than the kids themselves, it has an unnecessary complex nature.

Pixar forgot about the kids and just focused on making the most of out of a odd storyline which doesnt even focus on the main character, more on Mater. This should definatley go down in the books as a bad film from Pixar (had to be said). Anyone going to watch this film because of the success of the first Cars will come out red faced & confused because its not the same thing. Also parents might become weary because its not as jolly & light as the first one, this one went a little bit past the PG rating (naughty). The amount of weapons being blasted on screen is ridiculous, i wont be surprised if there's complaints.
OVERALL: Not as good as the First one.

MOVIE REVIEW: HORRIBLE BOSSES (15)

"GOOD COMEDY WITH LOTS OF LAUGHS"
+++~
Horrible Bosses is a Comedy Crime film Directed by Seth Gordon (same guy that brought  us Four Christmases, 2008). Three Friends plot to murder their awful & insane bosses because they are the only objects standing in the way of their own happiness. Its Starring Josh Bateman, Chris Day, Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell, Kevin Spacey, Donald Sutherland, P.J. Byrne, Lindsay Slone & Jamie Foxx.

#Fact: Tom Cruise, Aston Kutcher & Jeff Bridges were all approached with roles in this film.

THE REVIEW:
When I first saw the trailer for this film I thought it was a good story idea to run with because alot of people will be able to relate to it. There are lots of people in the real world that hate their bosses so watching this crime drama with added comedy sounds like a treat as long as it’s funny and does not drag on for too long. its sort of like watching others do something you have already re enacted in your mind about your Horrible Boss, (if you have one) but on screen and laughing about it at the same time. #WinWinSituation.

After watching this film I was happy on how hilarious it was, this is a very watchable movie that will have you laughing from the start to finish. The mix of humour is very entertaining. It’s sexual, racist and odd at times. There are funny bits you don’t see coming which makes it even funnier. As for the storyline I think more writers are starting to use the same Hangover style formula of getting lots of different funny in their own way type characters. They are all just as crazy as each other in the group because they act out some outrageous ideas (I don't blame them because it works). The story surprises because nobody expect it to take the turns it does. It does starts off good but then you realise after all the laughter that you know how it is all going to end about half way through (well you think you know). As long as you just want to laugh at these silly men with crazy ideas & antics then it’s a good watch. Worth a visit to the cinema. #GoodEntertainment.

Out of the 3 front men (even though they were all brilliant) I’m going to have to give the #StarOfTheShow award to Charlie Day as Dale Arbus because he was very funny and also a strange man who wouldn’t have sex with a very attractive woman (even if she was a man-eater literally). Kevin Spacey was a psycho as Dave Harken and at the same time a bad ass if you ask me (I salute your character sir). I was very impressed with Jennifer Aniston’s character (Dr Julia Harris) because she is this crazy sex fuelled woman who is literally horny 24/7. In most films Mrs Aniston’s characters is usually PG rated but this one really showed her crazy, sexy & wild side (i don't think I would mind working for her office).  Jamie Foxx’s character Dean “Motherfu**er Jones” was a very funny and enjoyable to watch. Colin Farrell as Bobby Pellitt was also executed very well. The all-star cast pulled off great performances.
OVERALL: Hilarious.

MOVIE REVIEW: TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON (12A) (2D) (3D)

"OPTIMUS PRIME, I SALUTE YOU."
+++++
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (Transformers 3) is an Action Adventure Sci Fi film Directed by Michael Bay (same guy that brought us the Transformers 1 & 2) The Autobots learn of a Cybertronian supercraft hidden on the moon, and race against the Decepticons to reach it and learn its secrets. Its Starring Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, Tyrese Gibson, Patrick Dempsey, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand, Lester Speight, Alan Tudyk, Ken Jeong & Glenn Morshower.

THE REVIEW:
 I went into the screening of this film unprepared as I didn’t bring along with me any food or drink. This is one LONG (as you will find out) Sci fi action movie that’s huge in production and rich in entertainment.

Fans will love every moment of this latest instalment as much as I did. If there was a manual of how to make a sequel of such magnitude that Transformers series is then this would be the perfect example. From the acting to the Autobots doing some major ass kicking, this film single handedly shows off CGI at its peak. The special effects alone of these machines are quality good enough for anyone’s money.

The storyline is new & interesting because of how they incorporated the moon landing to be more than what we had been told before hand. The characters have increased (lots more people involved), and with the scale enlarged this is just fun times at the cinema. It’s not the best script in the world and it does have those cheesy moments but it fitted in movie so I don’t think anyone will mind. The lead actor gives his very emotional (mostly anger lol) performance everything and it he shows off his action attributes perfectly. The machines are bashing the hell out of each other in some pretty awesome fight scenes that builds a landmark bridge for 3D films and top that all off there one very hot blonde heroine as fierce & likeable as Fox. As beautiful as Carly (Whiteley) looks in the film I didn't feel that Mrs Fox was replaced. (more like a substitute)

This is another summer must watch that takes us on an emotional ride all the way to the end in a Handicap match (2 on 1) Humans & Autobots vs. The Decepticons. Director Bay & Producer Steven Spielberg have done a beautiful job, and the visuals are the proof of this pudding. This is an impressive way to end a Trilogy. Everyone will leave the cinema smiling. (well mostly the boys/men)
