MOVIE REVIEW: THE TOURST (12A)

“LACKED ACTION”

SLIDER’S REVIEW

The last film we all saw the lovely Angeline Jolie in was Evelyn Salt and If you have been reading this blog you will know I loved that film because it was action galore. I’m still sitting here craving for a part 2. Just before we say goodbye to 2010 she manages to squeeze in this film also starring Johnny Depp.

The Tourist is a thriller film Directed by Floral Henckel von Donnersmarck. It is a remake of the 2005 French film Anthony Zimmer. This story is about a man who’s come to Italy to mend his broken heart. He then meets an extraordinary woman who crosses his path deliberately.

Haven’t seen how explosive Mrs Jolie could be on screen from her last film I was so disappointed in the lack of action her character displayed in this movie. From the trailer I was thinking this would be a great action film because I know how Mrs Jolie likes to get physical, shoot guns and do eye popping stunts. With the lack of actions the only thing I had left to hang on to was how beautiful Mrs Jolie looked on screen. I admired her characters swarve. Most shots of her she was dressed up with expensive clothes and jewellery flowing ear to ear. Her lips looked ravishing in red lipstick. Her character was like a riddle because I spend half the film trying to figure her out.

The storyline seems stretched and a little forced. The best part of film would be the last 20mins when everything one needs to know about to film comes to light. The acting from Jonny Depp was very good as per usual. He is able to take front and back seat roles in films. Normally when I see Johnny Depp I usually think of Capt. Jack Sparrow but not In this one he was completely a different character which is always good. I did have difficulty in trying to be convinced by the chemistry between the two lead roles, It didn’t quit work. Other actors like Paul Bettany’s acting skills should not go unnoticed because he is also do a good job on screen. One thing done right is how amazingly shot Venice, Italy looked on screen.

MOVIE REVIEW: FOR COLORED GIRLS (15)

“TYLER PERRY’S 
BEST WORK HANDSDOWN”


SLIDER’S REVIEW

If you have not seen this movie yet then guys take your woman to see this great film or Ladies call up your girlfriends, grab some tissues and head for the cinema because this one drama that shouldn’t be missed.

For Colored Girls is a drama play taken from Ntozake Shange’s For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf. Tyler Perry directed and produced his version has got to be his Best Work to date. He was able to capture the true meaning behind lives of these women of color.

This film is Moving, Touching & very Realistic. The characters on screen connect straight away. Its interesting to see how each lives interacts into each others through the movie. The stories being told on screen can be related to by most women and men. I like the fact that it invites the audience into the lives of these characters and shows us what real life is like for some people. Its not just a movie about race, its much deeper than that.

There are Poems in this movie which are beautifully written. The poem connects because of the way the women recite them. The acting in this film is just simply amazing to watch. Having a great cast and such a good storyline makes a great movie and that’s what this film is.

There’s a bunch of beautiful women in this film. (9 in fact) All the acting in this film is so genuine that I couldn’t find much fault with anyone. Actresses like Kimberly Elise, Janet Jackson, Loretta Devine, Thandie Newton, Anika Noni Rose, Kerry Washington, Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad & Whoppi Goldberg all do a wonderful job on screen. Janet Jackson’s character could have been acted out better than is it was. She looked a little stiff on screen.

Out of all the women my favourite would have to be Kimberly Elise for her role as Crystal. She deserves an award for that role.

Hopefully this film will get the recognition it deserves. #OscarNominations

What happens when Crystal comes back home from work midday to get the papers she forgot with her boss Jo.

MOVIE REVIEW: UNSTOPPABLE (12A)


“A THRILLING RIDE OF A FILM YOU NEED.. NO... MUST EXPERICENCE”

SLIDER’S REVIEW:

The storyline is basically of a runaway train that has to be stopped before it reaches a town and destroys it. Frank Barnes (Denzel Washington) & Will Colson (Chris Pine) play these two train worker who decide to go after the train before it’s too late.

When I first saw the trailer for this film I instantly thought “whys Denzel Washington doing another train film”we have all seen him in The Taking of Pelham 123. So anyway I go and watch Unstoppable and was blown away. It’s totally a different setting to anything I’ve seen in a while. It is such a heart pounder of a story. The intensity of the screenplay is gripping. This film doesn’t need you to any deep thinking it just needs you to sit down and enjoy the entertaining journey it takes.

I think I’m going to have to call the Director Tony Scott “one of the kings of thriller films”. He was behind films like Pelham 123, DéjàVu & Man on Fire. This film captured my attention straight from the start of the film; I found my heart actually beating faster than usual in pinnacle points of the film. I was thinking the storyline would be predictable and all it was going to end with would be some sort of a train crash but it was so much more than that.

Normally in films that Denzel is in he would take the spotlight but in this one everybody plays their role as good as each other. There were a lot of characters that were easy to relate to. There too much going on in this film for it to be a one man show. The team effort sort of brings everyone together in the end.

So far Inception takes the film of the year but I think Unstoppable could go toe to toe for the title.
